June Orientation (23/06/2011)

This June’s orientation is a special one, for it marks UOW’s first ever intake of psychology students! The orientation IC this time round is Yulia, who also happens to be our Marketing Director. After the customary talks by the SIM staff, the actual games and fun began. First off was “Whacko” – an ice breaking game requiring you to know your friends’ names or get whacked. Lunch was next, buffet style.

The freshies were then brought on the school tour, to orientate them to SIM.

We then headed over to GE campus to continue on with the rest of the games. Charades was played first – each team formed up in a line, and had to act out a phrase, “monkey pole dancing” for example, and make sure the last person in the line guesses the phrase correctly. The teams then sweated it out in a classic captains’ ball match against one another, both sides doing their utmost to outdo one another.

What is the best way to cool down after being all hot and sweaty? Water games! This time we had two different water games. The pictures below should give a clearer view on how they are played

At the end of the orientation games, prizes were given to the winning teams and we hope that this June orientation has been a memorable one for the freshies, and that they have made new friends; whom will stay with them throughout their university life.
